Some things will never change.
When God’s kingdom is fully established, in the new heavens & the new earth, saints – and by that I mean everyone who loves God – will enjoy everlasting communion with God, everlasting community with others, & everlasting compassion. (Sorry for all the c’s.)
In the meantime, while God’s kingdom is being established, saints pursue communion, community, & compassion. Imperfectly.
But we can’t do this thing alone, so we help each other along. As disciples of Jesus, we worship – pursue communion with God – together. We fellowship – pursue community in the Spirit – together. We minister – exercise compassion, for Christ’s sake – together. This is, as I understand things, Christian discipleship.
When we worship, fellowship, & minister together, everybody wins:
- God gets glorified
- others get edified (= built up, spiritually)
- we get transformed
